About Fate of the Warriors
Mike's second novel, Fate of the Warriors, is as gripping and fast-paced as Warrior Priest. Also like Warrior Priest, it emphasizes relationships to propel the story. And like Warrior Priest, Fate of the Warriors weaves the lives of fictional characters with real-life people. Here is a preview of a journey that provides a different and broader perspective of happenings during the 1940s-1960s and into the 1970s... Fate of the Warriors begins in 1906 in an Ohio farm field. Henry Lawrence, his son Edward trailing, is guiding a team of four mammoth draft horses. They are spooked and bolt. Years later, Edward marries and fathers three sons and a daughter. Dick and Bill, the two oldest, become talented young musicians and high school marching band members -- and are swept up into World War II. Waiting at home is lovely Helen Wakefield. Meanwhile, in New Mexico, John Santiago, young and restless on his parents' ranch, has decided to migrate to bustling Los Angeles where he launches a construction firm, marries and fathers four daughters. In 1945, chance begins connecting -- and testing -- the Ohio Lawrences and the California Santiagos. Over the next quarter century, chance weaves their lives in ways that fuel romance, adventure, tragedy and triumph. The 1940s: The 1950s: The 1960s: The 1970s: These and other happenings create -- and test -- the warriors in unexpected ways.
